Electrical Engineer

Tasks
- Review and document power distribution system.
- Participate as Owner’s representative in projects related to power distribution.
- Confer, coordinate and participate in potential engineering projects, changes to equipment design or operational procedure.
- Design, implement and improve equipment, facilities, components and systems to increase plant performance or safety.
- Perform calculations as needed to support recommended engineering changes.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design, equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment and order as needed.
- Supervise and consult with safety employees on safe work conditions and practices.
· Ensure the plant is maintained in accordance with applicable electrical codes and safety standards.
- Conduct Root Cause investigations of any electrical equipment failures, help maintenance record the necessary data to limit electrical failures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· The ability to respond by phone or in person for emergency after-hour situations.
· Must be able to create and read single line diagrams, P&IDs and other electrical drawings.
· Ability to develop and implement standard engineering practices. Provide all necessary documentation.
· The following basic, essential management standards must be met:

- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with non-engineering people effectively.
- Capable and effective in situations involving uncertainty and change while maintaining confidence and a positive attitude.
- Ability to respond with tact and discretion to employee inquiries and complaints.
- Must have knowledge some competence with Microsoft Office.
· Prefer experience with PLCs and DCS system.
· Prefer ability to use AutoCad.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
· Must be able to:
o Push, pull and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
o Work within a confined workspace.
o Ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding and stairs.
o Stand, sit, walk, reach and bend as required.
o Sit at a desk and operate a computer for an entire shift.
o Pass employment physical including a drug and alcohol test.
o Wear safety gear and required PPE.

Qualifications: |
A minimum of two years work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. |
