Position Summary: The EHS Manager will be responsible for leading all environmental and safety support to the GMR team and contract workers. The EHS Manager will evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with government regulations and industry standards with the primary goal being to protect employees, customers, the community, and the environment. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Oversee Environmental and Safety Compliance as well as Air, Water and Waste permitting. Collect and/or work with a third party to obtain environmental samples and oversee field investigations. Act as the interface with regulatory agencies such as TCEQ and also with third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues. Establish protocols to ensure that all contractors, suppliers, and vendors are educated and trained on all company environmental, health and safety systems and requirements. Develop and lead the Emergency Response program to include establishing relationships with emergency response agencies to facilitate inter-agency operations. Manage the site’s work permit programs including but not limited to safe work, hot work and confined space. Manage the lockout / tagout program including developing machine/ equipment-specific LOTO procedures as well as maintaining and reviewing existing LOTO procedures. Review and assist with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for the operations and construction projects to ensure a safe environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and the community. Monitor environmental and safety performance of projects and ensure company procedures and regulatory requirements are met and exceeded. Perform periodic safety audits of workers. Immediately stop and correct conditions that are out of compliance. Lead or assist with accidents and near-miss investigations to determine root cause and implement corrective actions. Train and coach workers on environmental, health and safety related tasks and activities.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field in addition to a minimum of five years EHS work experience in an industrial setting. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement. Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain CSP and/or ASP certifications. Must possess working knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations including OSHA standards. Highly prefer a working knowledge of hazardous waste rules and regulations, including RCRA. Capability of effectively engaging with state and federal regulatory agencies, the local community, elected officials and non-governmental organizations. Strong interpersonal skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time including inclement weather conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs and stand for long periods of time.
